Stratigraphic relationships
It directly overlies the Pleasantview Sandstone, without an underclay.
Extent and thickness
Lithology
The coal is canneloid and, like the Kerton Creek Coal of southern Fulton County, occurs immediately above a channel facies of the Pleasantview Sandstone, apparently in channels that were not completely filled by the sandstone (Wanless, 1957, p. 98). The coal is as much as 5 feet thick near the center of the channels but is not present outside them.
