The following units are informal names used in the oil fields of Illinois. The formal units which relate to the informal names are listed as well.

Pennsylvanian units in Southern Illinois (south of 40° North latitude)
"Casey" part of the Tradewater Formation (Formerly the Abbott Formation)
"Mansfield" part of the Tradewater Formation (Formerly the Abbott Formation)
"3rd and 4th Siggins" part of the Tradewater Formation (Formerly the Abbott Formation)

Hoing sandstone" part of the Cedar Valley Limestone
