Name Origin

The Tygett Sandstone Member of the Clore Formation (Swann, 1963, p. 40, 42), the middle member, is named for Tygett School, Union County.

Type Section

The type section of the Tygett (Swann, 1963, p. 40, 42) is located 1.5 miles north of Tygett School, on Bradshaw Creek (NE NW 24, 11S-1W), where it is 26 feet thick.

Description

It consists of sandstone and minor amounts of shale.

Fossils

Sigillaria trunks and fragments are common in some beds.
